Riya and Abhishek met in December 2016 through some common link for a planned family dinner. Back then Riya was doing her PhD in Prague, Czech Republic and had come home only for vacations. After 2-3 meetings with Abhishek, they decided mutually that they don’t want to tie the knot and so the family discussions stalled.
Amusingly after the topic was closed, Riya and Abhishek secretly started talking to each other and going out for dinner dates. After like spending 2 weeks together, they decided to marry each other again.
“So basically it all started on a very confusing note,” laughs Riya.
Meet Riya and Abhishek
Riya and Abhishek tied nuptial knots on 19th April 2017 at The Ritz, Gurugram. The bride says, venue deciding took quite long as they were expecting more than 2000 guests to attend the wedding. Her family was searching for a big, open yet beautiful place that could well be decorated with a variety of fresh flowers. The moment her family visited the property, they knew that is it!

The Engagement and Sangeet
Riya looked respendent on her mehendi in her vibrant colorblock lehenga. She chose a very natural look for her event and complemented her look with beautiful traditional jewellery from Chennai. Her family and friends had a gala time with group performances by each set of audience – aunties, uncles and young generation!
Directly from the bride:
For the catering, my dad wanted to have the most lavish menu possible. So we booked the 11 course menu by Jain Caterers and it covered a wide variety of cuisines. The food was undoubtedly delicious.
Most of my jewellery was bought from Chennai. I had booked Meenakshi Dutt for both my functions – sagai and wedding. She gave me very different looks on both the functions. My mehendi was done by Imraan. He created magic on my palms using mehendi. He made bride and groom, maang bharne wala scene, baraat etc. and mahals on both my legs. That was really cool and I was very surprised to see the art.
For wedding photography and videography, we booked Shaadi Ok Please for all the functions, even my pre-wedding shoot. Arnob is an excellent photographer and both his photography and editing skills are simply outstanding. I am very glad we booked him. He has given me the memories I want to look at again and again.
